Engineering Project Leader
We are looking to recruit an Engineering Project Manager with a background in the Automotive, Aerospace or Rail sectors to join our market leading customer in South Wales, and manage the technical delivery of varied and interesting engineering projects.
You will plan and execute engineering projects through the design, development, test and approval process, through to delivery, managing cross functional engineering teams on a daily basis. You will be responsible for managing costs and the delivery schedule. The successful applicant will have a proven track record in technical project management, the ability to work independently and make decisions and strong planning and people management skills.

Key Accountabilities:
Effective planning of engineering projects including design, product development, testing and airworthiness approvals through to first delivery.
Creation of coherent Work Breakdown Structures.
Generate and maintain customer specifications.
Manage engineering changes through the engineering functions to support project delivery.
Assess and manage technical risks to avoid adverse project impact.
Support problem solving initiatives across the business.
Be able to communicate efficiently and clearly with internal and external suppliers and customers.
- Support the development of mechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
- Assist with the design of suitable feasibility and testing methods to confirm system and product capability.
- Support the design of and implement appropriate validation and verification testing for engineering sign-off.
- Assure product/system compliance with international regulation standards.
- Support the resolution of engineering problems including support of post-test analysis activity.
- Support development technicians, prototype product and system assembly activities.
- Undertake CAD design activity including engineering change requests (ECR) and design release as required by programme schedules.
- Develop materials and designs, through the procurement process, internal manufacturing processes, on to test and through Post Test Analysis.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Minimum HNC/HND education. Degree level preferred.
Engineering design experience
Previous engineering management experience preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Project, Access)
Experience of engineering design packages (e.g. Catia, Nastran)
High and proven interpersonal skills
Competent communicator with ability to establish good working relationships across departments
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent high level qualification.
- Experience related to the above accountabilities; industry sector background in the automotive, aerospace or white-goods sectors would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of engineering theory and application.
- Knowledge of small batch and series production manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Some familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices.
- Capability with PTS Creo/Pro-Engineer modelling software is an advantage.
- Ideally experienced in using Product Data Management systems.
